An interdisciplinary poetics collective.

The Prose Poetry Network (PPN) aims to marshal the enthusiasm of poetics scholars and creative writers of prose poetry toward the study of the genre—from its origins in 17th-century Japan and 19th-century France and Germany to its many contemporary variations—and to promote its enduring efflorescence.

We wish to foster a lively, global interchange of insights into the reading and writing of the prose poem, across linguistic traditions. In this regard, the Prose Poetry Network organizes prose poetry translation workshops and international conferences and symposia. This site serves as an online archive of these activities as well as a repository for scholarly and creative resources, with a focus on the PPN’s identity as an intellectual unit dedicated to building connections and dialogues through global scholarship and an innovative, collaborative approach.

Our initiatives are supported by the Franco Family Institute for Liberal Arts and the Public Good, the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies, the Notre Dame Department of English, the Notre Dame Creative Writing Program, and the Dynamic Translation Humanities Collaborative at the University of Notre Dame.
